Brief

"Find areas on campus to observe and sketch using your iPads, creating quick outlines within 15 minutes for each sketch. You are required to add at least 5 different sketches / scamps to your ‘portfolio’ by Friday 4th November."

Overview

For this project, I decided to sketch the 'University of Winchester' sign, the stripe building, the view looking up at the 'Learning Café', the pond area and the King Alfred statue on the 'University of Winchester's' campus. These were areas that presented different challenges but also areas which were perfect to sketch.

Inspiration and Research

'Pinterest'

Overview

Before I began sketching on my 'iPad', I thought it would have been a good idea to have a look at the links that were included on the module outline brief and I thought that one of the links in particular was very helpful. It contained several different examples of sketches/scamps by different people and this allowed myself to grasp an understanding of the sort of thing I would be doing when I went to sketch.

Creating my Final Sketches

Overview

For all of my sketches I used the ‘Adobe Photoshop Sketch’ app on my university 'iPad' which I had been given as part of the Digital Media course. I thought that I would choose some areas which were easier to sketch and some areas which were more complex to sketch to try and challenge myself. I also thought I would choose areas on campus which were well known.

I took the photos of the areas on my mobile phone and then sketched on the app within my room so that it would have been easier for myself to do so.

When I had finished all of my sketches, I saved the sketches onto my 'iPad' and uploaded these onto 'Dropbox' along with the photos I had taken in order to implement them into my portfolio website.
