About Cherry Childcare

Cherry Childcare was founded back in 1993 by Barry Rolfe. It started with a single nursery near Chertsey with only 15 staff. Through his commitment to excellence in childcare and the support from his team (some of which are still with the company) he built this into the successful nursery group it is today. In 2008 Nigel Rolfe joined the company as Barry started to step back and enjoy his passion for cycling.

Nigel Rolfe B.A. (Hons), Managing Director

I joined Cherry Childcare in 2008 having previously worked for 14 years for a leading European vehicle finance solutions provider managing their sales, customer service and client relationship teams. I have a strong background in sales, marketing and business finance.

My father Barry Rolfe, who founded the company invited me to join him at a time when he wanted to reduce his involvement and at a time of significant growth. My father sadly passed away in 2015.

Sarah Taylor, Director

I am a Director responsible for the Finance and Administration of the CherryHarbour, CherryIsland and CherryPark nurseries. Prior to joining I spent 12 years working in banking and finance. My father and founder Barry Rolfe invited me to run the CG Recruitment before I took over the responsibility for their finance and administration management when we acquired more nurseries.

I am married and we have three children aged 13, 11 and 9 all of which have attended a Cherry Childcare nursery.

Trish Fisher, Finance and HR Director

I am the Finance Director for Cherry Childcare. I joined the company in 1992 for a couple of afternoons a week when my daughter was two. Since then I have increased my hours and was appointed a director in 2009.

I have two grown up children who both attended Cherry Childcare. When I started, Cherry Childcare consisted of one nursery with 16 staff and has gone from strength to strength and now employs 240 staff over 11 sites, making me proud to have been a part of this growth.

Rachael Wolfenden, Nursery Director

I am the Nursery Director for Cherry Childcare, I work closely alongside our highly experienced senior management team supporting & developing the nurseries and staff. I am also responsible for safeguarding & managing children’s behaviour for the company.

I joined the company back in 1994, starting at the nursery working as a nursery nurse, then manager in 1998 and finally I was appointed as a Director in 2009. I am married with one child who attended the Cherryvale Nursery.

Zoe Rolfe, Development Director

I joined Cherry Childcare in 1994 as a NNEB qualified nursery nurse. I became a Nursery Manager in 1999, moving onto the role of Area Manager in 2001 before being made a Director in 2014.

Throughout my time with the company I have undertaken a variety of supporting roles, I now oversee the development of our newer nurseries. I also work closely with the other Directors and the management team to support and develop company policies and procedures, oversee funding and deliver a variety of training courses to support our team members in their roles.

Your Child's development

Each child is assigned a member of the team in their group room. Your Child Development Supporter will talk to you informally when you arrive to collect your child, letting you know the events of the day. You can now keep track on your child through an app where we log their process.

Early years Foundation Stage

Every child deserves the best possible start in life and support to fulfill their potential.
A secure, safe and happy childhood is important in its own right, and provides the foundation for children to make the most of their abilities and talents as they grow up. The EYFS principles are grouped into four distinct themes.

Feeding your Child better

Cherry Childcare is committed to providing good, healthy nutritious meals for children in our care. All our meals are freshly prepared in-house that are both tasty and nutritious. Each week our menu provides a balance of protein foods, featuring a pork, beef, lamb, poultry, fish and vegetarian item using a range of recipes that rotate over a four week period i.e. tuna risotto, spaghetti bolognese, and Mediterranean lamb with cous cous.

Safeguarding Statement

We are committed to the welfare and protection of all children in our care and will endeavour to protect children from harm. Cherry Childcare will ensure that concerns about children’s safety are properly investigated. Child protection procedures are set in place at all our nurseries and we are fully aware of and will abide by these procedures. In following these guidelines we will work together with parents.
