Main Model

The cast iron waterwheel at Whitchurch Silk Mill was made by Taskers of Andover in the 1860s. The waterwheel was restored in the 1990s, 2004 and 2014. The governor has been left inoperative due to changes in the river flow rate, its erratic performance and to prevent unnecessary wear to the mechanism. The paddles were replaced with elm in the 1990s, as would have been used originally, but in subsequent restorations oak has been used. The basic layout of the Mill is similar to a traditional corn mill.
