Brief: "Design a poster based on the information learned within the session today, for a sporting event using multiple assets to create the layout."
I thought I would base my poster on a football charity match as football is a sport which I am very interested in. I then decided to include both Manchester United and Chelsea and try to incorporate the colours of blue and red into the poster. However, red was used the most as the venue in which the match would take place would be Old Trafford, the home of Manchester United.
It was ensured that many techniques and assets were included. The most evident technique utilised is the 'Golden Section' with the footballer kicking the ball and the curves coming off of it.

Brief: "Make a 30 second video on Adobe After Effects using kinetic typography either showing lyrics from a song or a script from a film. The actual audio has to be included as well in the video."
I based this project on my favourite band, Coldplay, and chose one of their songs ('Adventure of a Lifetime') which I thought would appeal to everyone. I also chose an upbeat song to make the kinetic typography piece exciting and fun. This was my first proper time of using Adobe After Effects, so I was proud of the end result.
I made sure that lots of images, constructed of lyrics from the song, were included to produce an effective and professional piece.

Brief: "Design and produce a promotional flyer in which colour is explored and emphasises the information to be portrayed. This can be via the use of software or without i.e. watercolour/crayons/markerpens/collage."
For my promotional flyer, I focused on the company 'Microsoft' by promoting one of their products. This is the 'XBOX ONE S FIFA 17 Bundle'. As is evident, the colours of green, white and black have been utilised to portray the colours of 'XBOX' as well as using the font used by 'Microsoft'.
To make certain aspects of the flyer stand out, I added effects to both the picture of the product and the name of the offer above.

Brief: "Design a piece of 'digital art' (static) which references to an artist/ art movement/ designer/ illustrator which isn't Andy Warhol or Salvador Dali."
With this piece of work, I chose to try and integrate both the style of Roy Lichtenstein and the 'Pop Art' movement through the use of bright colours and clear, bold typography. As we had to base the poster on a celebrity, I chose Ant and Dec, highlighting their show called 'Saturday Night Takeaway' through the use of red and blue around their names.

Brief: "Find areas on campus to observe and sketch using your iPads, creating quick outlines within 15 minutes for each sketch. You are required to add at least 5 different sketches / scamps to your 'portfolio' by Friday 4th November."
I decided to sketch the University of Winchester sign, the stripe building, the view looking up at the 'Learning Café', the pond area and the King Alfred statue.

Brief: "Choose a chapter from a banned book and visually interpret it as a digitally dynamic book. The chapter should resonate with you for some reason or encapsulates what you believe to be its inciteful nature. Consider how audiences of the book would have reacted to it when it was initially released. What was or is the aspect of censorship at play? Look to use potential of the digital form to interpret your text: consider movement, interaction, reader behaviour and experience. What can you do that would not be possible to do in print?"
I chose to base mine on chapter 1 of 'Alice's Adventures in Wonderland' which was banned in China for its use of talking animals which was seen as animals being equal to humans. I ensured that my piece was visually old, reflecting the age of the book.

Brief: "This is an individual mini project over two weeks. You will create a 3D logo for a title sequence or channel ident."
I chose to make a 3D logo for a channel ident. Thinking that the BBC was a well-known channel, I decided to base my piece on this and picked animations which would reflect the fact that the BBC is a television channel. The 3D aspect of the logo is nearer to the end when there is a stamp which changes the colour from white to black. Likewise to the ISTD and kinetic typography projects, I utilised Adobe After Effects as this was a program which I was fairly confident in using.

Brief: "During the whole of semester one you will be engaged in a large scale project to develop a website for your year group. This will be undertaken in small production teams which will give you the opportunity to experience a number of design and production roles. The project will give you an opportunity to practice and apply your learning on the four modules that you’ll be doing in the semester and will form the bulk of the assessment of these modules. At the end of the semester, the student group will vote on their preferred site and this will become the cohort site for the remainder of your time at Winchester, with updates each year."
